Friday Letter - Jan 30, 2015

January has just flown by this year, I truly believe the older you get, time speeds up.
Happy Friday everyone!

dear self:  I can. not believe I finished my 2nd half marathon.  I'm excited.  and to be honest, just a tad disappointed.  At mile 11 I started to have leg cramps which forced me to do lots of walking.  I was completely down on myself, I'm getting better with it now.

the great thing...counted as a lesson learned.

second great thing...sign already registered for next year's race!

third thing is...I've decided to start from the beginning and run with a training group.  I love my running partner and I need her, but I tent to lean on her a lot.  It's time that she starts to train for her next full marathons.  I don't think I'm ready for a full.  Running 26.2 miles is a long term goal.  I will run with her on shorter runs but I'm going to start to spread my wings.

dear family:  thank you so much for being at the finish line!  and supporting me on the course, it really means everything to me.

dear people who will never change:  I just need to just hoping things will get better and realize somethings will never change and not having the best relationship with you for me is really just ok.

2nd Half Marathon is almost here...

I'm at the end of training for my second half marathon.  I'm so excited to run the 3M Half Marathon

Ok, really I'm not excited, I'm seriously nervous.  Today was my last 'long' run and it was really a horrible run.  Everything that could irritate me...DID.  Ugh.  I think it's important to talk about my bad runs.  Because running for me isn't easy.  Yes, it's nice to post my mileage on Instagram and Facebook and most people think it's all fun and smiles.  But some days are just hard, your legs feel like rocks, your stomach doesn't agree with you.  Today my nose would not stop running and I just hate blowing my nose when I'm out, but if your nose is stuffy, you can't breathe.

I needed to do something to get back on track after my run, so I did all things that makes me happy.
Amazing pedicure - check.

So now I'm happy and relaxing.

Desk Makeover with Royal Design Studio

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Royal Design Studio, however all opinions are my own
I decided I would give my desk area a makeover.  I wasn’t sure how to approach this at first, but then I remembered how I loved  Royal Design Studio Stencils.

Stencils?  I know, I know.  I thought the same thing.  This will not work – I thought my work would look sloppy.  I have never had a great experience working with stencils, my paints usually bleed under the stencil making for lots of touch ups and sloppy work.  I seemed to get frustrated.  But I met this company last year and I liked the product.  The stencils seemed easy enough to use and I loved the larger sizes, the quality and thickness of the stencils.  And the crèmes are so smooth and thick.  So I thought why not give them a try.

Here are the items I used for my project.
     Honeycomb Allover Wall Stencil
     Pearl Oyster Stencil Crème
     1.5” Stencil Brush
     Blue Painters Tape
     Good Quality Paper Towels
     A Paper Plate

1.  I needed to paint my wall, I just used the white paint we purchased for our house.  I had to say goodbye to the green wall...

2.  The instructions are so easy.  I lined up my stencil using blue painters tape per the instructions included in my shipment.

3.  I poured a small amount of Stencil Crème on my paper plate and added a little to my stencil brush.  I removed the access on the paper towel and applied the paint in a circular motion.  With this large pattern, I found it easier start in the middle and work my way out.  Just in case I added too much paint to my brush.

I’m so happy with the results, I love the Pearl Oyster Stencil Crème and plan to use it again and again.  I used the 8 oz jar and didn't even use half the bottle. I had no paint run under the stencil  which left my project with straight lines and I simply love it.

Here are the results.  I'm happy!

Friday Letter - Jan 2, 2015

I just typed 2015!  eeeek!

Dear self:  Time to start getting back into the real world.  Vacation time is almost over.

Dear vacation: ahhhhhh, it's been a wonderful almost 3 weeks.  I will dearly miss you.

Dear holidays:  You were awesome.  Great time with family and friends.

Dear fall craft show season:  I'm glad the busy season is over.  I'm really tired.  But now forward to the new year.

Dear word SHINE:  Let's do this!  I'm ready.

My 2015 word: SHINE

I've been thinking about this for a while.  One word for the entire year.  A word to live by, a word to make apart of my life, a word to own.  And when I saw this class from Ali Edwards | One Little Word, I knew this was something I wanted to do.  It's $31 to participate.  I even purchased this class as a gift for a close friend. #onelittleword

I also decided to participate in the SNAP One Word Challenge.  You can sign up FREE to get prompted each month to stay on track with your goals.  Each month you will be reminded of your challenge and providing you with prompts and encouragement.  I love SNAP!  Sign up HERE #onewordchallenge

Then came the hard part.  What word could I use.  What word can I hang on to this year to help me make 2015 better than 2014.  I thought of so many words and started to write.

And then it just came to me.  I want to SHINE. Shine...yes, shine.

shine [shahyn]
verbshone or shined, shining.

to give forth or glow with light; shed or cast light.
to be bright with reflected light; glisten; sparkle.
(of light) to appear brightly or strongly, especially uncomfortably so
to be or appear unusually animated or bright, as the eyes or face.
to appear with brightness or clearness, as feelings.
to excel or be conspicuous
I want to take all my highs, all my lows, all my mistakes and learn from them all.  From all of that, I believe I can then SHINE.  Just like when a glass breaks, through all of it's pieces it still shines when the sunlight hits it. This just reminds me, no matter what, I can SHINE through anything.  Last year was a tough year. There was lots of breathing, crying and lots of positive thinking.  I want to invite this word into my life, I want to live with this word each day.  I want to mediate on this word weekly. I want to help someone else SHINE.
