Happy New Year Everyone!

Sweet Birthday Invite...

...my daughter's birthday is next month...we have been working out the details for this party...what do you know - it's a crafting party.  Here is her invite, I hope the girls like it.  She loves it!  I can't wait to blog about the awesome cake we have orders....it's a 12 inch round cake, get this - in zebra stripe with a hot pink boa make out of icing.  And the goodie bags are really cute too!
I love having a girl - well, most days :)

I love going to the Farmer's Market!

Today the family and I went out the to the Farmer's Market in South Austin...it takes about 25 mins to get there but today it was worth it.  They all enjoyed it and I think we got something for everyone...organic breads, fruits and veggies.  We also got some really yummy kettle corn, and cup cakes.

OK, you all know that I love cupcakes.  This is a new small company.  She make this cute little peppermint cupcake with a cute little snowflake on top...I will try them out and let you know what I think.  She was new at the Farmer's Market and currently she doesn't have a website, but they do deliver in the Austin area...

Whoooohooooo!  I'm officially on vacation until Jan 5th...
I'm so super excited!!!
Last year at this time I made two foolish goals:  1.  Drink at least one glass of wine everyday.  2.  To wear sweats everyday...yeah and guess what, I gained about 10 pounds and could barely fit back into my work clothes when it was time to go back to work.  With all that said, I've come up with a new vacation goals this year:
     1.  Create at least 4 new stationary designs
     2.  Get out and do something with the kids...as much as possible
     3.  Read a good book
     4.  Organize desk area!!!!
     5.  Try something new
     6.  Blog daily
We will see how it goes this year...

how interesting...

I saw this on the How About Orange Blog! (I read her blog daily, great ideas)
Try it. I wanted to find out what color matches up with my birthday on Pantone's Colorstrology website. I'm Coral Blush...it means I'm gentle and soothing...Coral Blush inspires love and receptivity. the moon rules the skies during the month of July and just as the moon goes thur its phases and cycles, so do we. The silver in this color signifies the value of change, reflection and receptivity and the pink represents love and tenderness. Together, we have a color that can be used in times of change or transition and as an aid for emotional healing. Wearing, meditation or surrounding yourself with Coral Blush helps open the heart and lift the spirit. Does your description and color fit you?

I've been holding this in for over a week and today I'm finally able to say something because everything has been set...Thanks to Ann with the Stitching Studio I had a meeting with a couple of ladies from the Dell Children's gift shop.  They are having a fundraiser and needed a craft project - they saw my work and asked me to join in on the fun!!!  I'm so super excited...

A little about the Gift Shop: it's a fundraising project of the Dell Children's Medical Center Volunteers.  All net proceeds are donated to support the Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas.

So you all know that my birthday was a few weeks ago. I put in a custom alchemy request on esty for a bag for my birthday...this is what was created...just for me!!!

I'm so excited, can't wait to get it. So Kelly from Simply Sage made this for me. It's so cute. It's called a transition bag. This girl is good...she sent me samples of the fabrics and wanted to make sure I knew exactly what I was getting.

It took about 2-3 weeks, but I think it's worth the wait. I can't wait to take water bottles, books...and hooooooo I can put my laptop in it when me and kids head to the library or pool or whatever! Man, I'm excited!

Ok, so if any of you need a custom bag I recommend Kelly. Her etsy shop is: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5861704 check her out!

I want to thank Divineladi for writing the article!!!

...happy birthday to me!

I think this picture says it all.  I had a good cup of iced coffee and bought my new book - E Lynn Harris.  I will start reading tonight!  Can't wait! Oh, yeah, I also got great cupcakes from hey cupcake.  And went bowling with the family!  It was a great day!

Why did people go back to New Orleans....got my answer

After the storm...the only thing New Orleans didn't lose was it's spirit!

when was the last time you seen these gas prices...

...I took this picture yesterday in New Orleans.  One of the gas stations that maybe closed right before the hurricane.  Not sure.

The visit was great, took the kids to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas (it has recently re-opened) it was great!

As a parent I could not imagine what the people of New Orleans went through (are still going thur) during and after the storm.   I saw so many houses abandoned, FEMA trailers in the drive ways of families who are rebuilding.  But here is the question...why go back?  I love where I live here in Texas, I think it's the best place to live in the US.  But if something terrible happened similar to what happened in New Orleans - I don't think I would be willing to return.  Do you think people stayed because of family?  Because they love it just as much as I love it here?  I don't know...the good thing is...lots of stores and resturants are now re-opening.  Most of the places we went to visit had grand opening signs.  Just a thought...

whoooohooooo! 100 invites finished

These are the first wedding invites I've been asked to do!  I'm finished and as promised I'm posting the finished wedding invitations.  I was honored when I was asked!  Not sure if you can see them but 50 of them have brown swarovski crystals and 50 of them have been embellished with clear swarovksi crystals.  Enjoy!

juneteenth give a way winner is....

Juneteenth - Man, we've come a long way!

I got this from my local newspaper today, interesting...
Read it, leave a comment - I will have a drawing for a free set of stationary from my shop (your choice)...winner will be announced June 22nd

On Sept. 22, 1862 - with our nation still ripped apart by fratricide - President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing black slaves in Confederate states. But slaves in Texas did not receive the news until June 19, 1865, when Gen. Gordon Granger and 2,000 federal troops arrived on Galveston Island.Granger read aloud from what was called General Order Number Three: "The people of Texas are informed that ... all slaves are free.

This involves an absolute equality of personal rights and property between former masters and slaves."As so often happens, reality did not measure up to the ideals of words written on paper. There was more - much more - work to be done.America paid a blood debt over slavery, with the Civil War leaving a million men dead or wounded. But this bloodletting did not cleanse all of slavery's stain. After the last of the Confederate armies surrendered in 1865, the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, abolishing slavery, became the law of the land.

The 14th Amendment was adopted three years later, stating: "No state shall make or enforce any law which abridges the privileges ... of citizens of the United States."But, again, real life did not measure up.There was yet to be Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. Yet to be Schwerner, Chaney and Goodman. Yet to be, 61 years ago this summer, the hard-muscled miracle of Jackie Robinson.

Today, all Americans have every right to be proud Barack Obama is the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee for President of the United States.Other African-Americans - such as Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice - have honorably served President George W. Bush.Just last week, Fortune magazine announced the two top-earning American celebrities are Oprah Winfrey and Tiger Woods.

Regardless of politics, Obama's achievements are especially inspiring. As the son of a Kenyan father and a white mother, there was a time - in the not-so-distant past - when he would have been shunned by both races. Now, he might be our next president. Don't ever let anybody tell you we haven't made a lot of progress

i'm a little tea cup...

I thought I would share my AWESOME weekend find. I signed up for the teacup swap (yeah, look to your right, you can sign up for the next one). I don't think the person I recieved looks at my blog...well I hope not, I could wait to get it on for you all to see....

are birthday parties only for kiddos?

so...my birthday is soon approaching.  And every year I get my friends together for a awesome happy hour.  I thought this year I might do something a little different...I'm having a BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!  With all that said I've been on a mission to find the most fav cupcakes to serve at the party!  The ones on your left are really cute we bought a chocolate divine and lemon...they come in cute little packages, the frosting and fillings were great but the cake was a little dry for my taste.

Now, we found another place, downtown Austin (Texas) called - Hey Cupcake - all the cupcakes were awesome!  Check out the menu...I would highly recommend the 24 - carrot and / or the Michael Jackson cupcake.  For the party we decided on the Michael Jackson - perfect chocolate cake with a tangy cream cheese frosting...and how super cute is this?  They are located in a silver trailer...it's so Austin - keep Austin wierd...and yummy!

i love my latest toy!  Yep, an iPhone...I love it, oh, I already said that.  So the Apple store has these awesome classes and I went to the iPhone class today to learn tips.  Those people are awesome!  I learned so many new things that I didn't know.   The greatest thing about it (well there are several things) but I'm able to check my Tisa's Creations email from where ever I am, I don't need to run home from work to get my email.   I can respond much more quickly than before, which I love! (oh, I've said that!)  I can check out etsy, my blog or whatever when I'm waiting in at the doctors office, or waiting for the PTA meeting to start!  Ok enough about the phone, I have more good news!

I've been asked to do 'wedding invites' I can't wait to post a picture...the wedding is not until September, but I promise, as soon as she sends them out I will post it on my blog.  Until next time!

Exciting news...

ok, this time I will post the picture first...ta daaah!  What do you think?  It's one of the mother's days cards I'm selling this year.  You likie like?

Ok for some exciting news:
1.  I'm was asked to be interviewed for a craft magazine...I'm so excited.  If it gets published I will give more details.  I can't even believe I was asked...so fun!

2.  I've join an etsy team:  Etsy Artist of Color!  Another thing I'm excited about.  Check it out to the right hand side of this page, you will see some really great handmade items.  I can't wait to meet everyone.

3.  I've been invited to my local chambers of commerce Woman's Power Luncheon next month!  Who me?  Yes me!  I have to admit, this makes me so nervous.  I will go, because I never want to look back on this opportunity and think about what I could've, would've, should've done.  So, I will go, proudly, with my business cards and card samples in hand.   Wish me luck!

Until next time -

in a perfect world...

...in a perfect world, life is ALWAYS great, not much changes, your loved ones are always with you and never leave. Your kids always look perfect (not a hair out of place), they don't talk back to you , and their rooms are always clean. There is never a need to worry. Every night you have a great night sleep. Just a thought...

So most of you know that I've started a new line of stationary...I wanted to share the latest one I've added to the Tisa's Creations collection. See them all here.

knitting...not for me

I just like making knitting cards.

So I think most of you know that I have a twin sister. We do everything alike...but about a year ago, she started to knit. She found this awesome yarn store in Oklahoma...L&B Yarn and loves it! But for me knitting isn't fun nor relaxing I get so frustrated with the whole thing. So I decided to kinda play off on what I love (making cards) and what she loves (knitting)...mix well, bake for 45 mins at 350 and this is the end result: ta-daaaaa! Awesome knitting cards! hehe! Visit my shop on Etsy to view my other knitting creations! Enjoy!

I thought I was the creative one...

So about two weeks ago my daughter comes home to tell me that she worked on this art project at school and it would be featured at the performing art center. Oh my, I was so excited!!! I love art (if you don't already know). All the art hanging in our house is mine! With all that said, I wanted to share. Take a look!

did you know...

  • The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution were passed following the Civil War, in the later 1860s. They outlawed slavery and extended civil rights and suffrage (voting rights) to former slaves. The LEGAL right to vote for African-Americans was established, but numerous restrictions kept many blacks from ACTUALLY voting until the 1960s Voting Rights Act.

  • The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote in 1920. This amendment resulted from an international movement of "Suffragettes". Women still lacked the right to vote in Switzerland until the 1970s, and as of 1990 women could not vote in Kuwait.

  • The 26th Amendment lowered the voting age from 21 to 18. This occurred in 1971, amid the Vietnam War, when 18-year-olds were routinely drafted and sent to war without the right to vote.

custom order...

I've been asked to make a house warming invite...so this is what I came up with.  What do you think?

I will be featured on ESTY's Paper Goods Showcase tomorrow...stop in and shop

...I'm really excited.  You can view my items by going to www.esty.com, click paper goods on the left hand side...my items will be listed at the top of the page under featured items.  Or you can just click on one of the cards listed to the left, you will be taken to the website.  Invite your friends and family to shop.

happy valentine's day!
